Eligibility Criteria of – The Tamil Nadu government’s Social Welfare & Women Empowerment Department
- Identity: You must have a Transgender ID card.
- The scholarship is mainly for your first degree, but in the future it may also include postgraduate or PhD studies.
- You must be studying in a recognized college or university.
- Previous Academic Performance: You may need to show your past marks, and they should not be below the required marks for the course you want to join.
- Family Income: There may be a limit on your family’s yearly income. For example, another Tamil Nadu scheme has a limit of ₹24,000 per year, so this scheme may have a similar limit.
- Domicile: You must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.

- Transgender students who pursuing higher education in college they will get financial assistance of Rs.1,000/ per month.

How to apply

If you are a new student, get your EMIS/UMIS number from your college and make your login.
- Fill the form
After login, open the Pudhumai Penn / Tamil Pudhalvan section and fill all your details (name, course, bank account, etc.).
- Upload documents
Upload your Transgender ID, college proof, bank passbook, and any documents they ask for.
- Submit the form
After filling everything, click submit.
- College will check your form
Your college will verify your details.
- Get money in your bank.
After approval, you will get ₹1000 every month in your Aadhaar-linked bank account.
